Support Pete
"My family had to suffer my mood swings, I was terrified about what I might do. I was going to do something really stupid if I didn’t get help.” - Pete, Army veteran
Pete was 16 when he joined the Army and was soon deployed to Northern Ireland, an incident there changed his life forever. When Pete left the Army he began experiencing serious mental health problems. More than a decade after leaving the Services, Pete found the courage to pick up the phone and ring the Combat Stress Helpline.
On average, it takes a veteran 13 years to ask for our help, by which point their mental health problems have often become so complex and severe, they need highly specialist treatment and long-term support to recover.
Regular monthly donations from our supporters give us the steady income stream we need to help more veterans like Pete, now and in the future.
