“When Pall-Ex Group came to review our corporate charity in 2019 we wanted to find a cause that resonated with our business and our staff members. We looked at our staff base and found a lot of people within our two UK networks had armed forces backgrounds or had relatives and friends either still serving or who had served.

Therefore, we wanted to support a charity that had links to logistics and could offer real support to people within our business. We are always looking to recruit ex-forces personnel as so many have the desired skillset and logistics experience, we need to keep vehicles on the road.

Our relationship began with Combat Stress when we realised the difficulties some people faced when leaving their military positions and returning to civilian life. We have supported them for a number of years, donating in excess of £50,000 and even being awarded their Corporate Fundraising Group of the Year Award in 2021.

Maggie and the team are always on hand to discuss initiatives and are always keen to highlight how our donations have contributed to their amazing work. We always try where possible to make a difference throughout the year with fundraising events and through our penny-a-pallet scheme.

To progress on our journey to excellence, we wanted to take our commitment further and in 2019 looked for additional ways we could support the Armed Forces community. We signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant and in 2022 became the only pallet network to achieve the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence. This is one of my proudest achievements to date and we are grateful for the support that Combat Stress provided throughout this process.”
