About Us:
Combat Stress is the UK’s leading mental health charity for veterans. For over a century we’ve been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today we provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service. We provide a range of community, outpatient and residential mental health services to veterans with complex mental health problems. We provide services in-person, and via phone and online.
About the role:
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Senior Art Therapist to clinically lead our small team of art therapists in our innovative, trauma-informed work with veterans. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated practitioner who will also be responsible for developing the service as new insights emerge within our groundbreaking work.
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate proven ability to deliver a high quality, client-centred service. A key aspect of the role will involve working with veterans on the Veterans’ Intensive Complex Trauma Organised Recovery (VICTOR) programme. Here you will introduce veterans to the use of creativity for self-expression, self-awareness, and promoting change, with the aim of supporting graded exposure to increased emotional awareness, affectively charged material, safe emotional expression, and regulation of affect.
Working within the Psychological Therapies service, you will report to the Principal Clinical Psychologist. You will be part of an upbeat and dynamic interdisciplinary team, working together to treat and support veterans along individual treatment pathways. There will be the opportunity to use your skills, knowledge, and abilities to help veterans reclaim their lives after military trauma.
This role is subject to a DBS check.
As a healthcare environment, and for the health and wellbeing of our staff, veterans and visitors, we encourage everyone at Combat Stress especially professionals that are veteran facing to take up the offer to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
What we offer:
You will work within a reputable charity that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our veterans, that has a fantastic cause and a committed follower base.
Benefits:
• 27 days paid holiday plus bank holidays. After 5 years continuous service, this will increase to 30 days paid holiday plus bank holidays and after 10 years continuous service, this will increase to 33 days paid holiday plus bank holidays
• Competitive stakeholder pension scheme - contributions matched up to 11% of salary
