Sara's Story

Michael served 28 years in the Royal Engineers Territorial Army and gave his all. After serving in Iraq in 2003, he experienced PTSD related health issues, but tragically hadn’t received the help he so desperately needed before his death.

“After Michael’s sudden death I thought it would be a lovely idea to try to help others and I’m sure he would have wanted me to choose Combat Stress. I found great comfort in thinking that some benefit would come to others out of our extremely heartbreakingly sad situation.

“Setting up Michael’s tribute page was very easy and, although incredibly upsetting at the time, I was doing something positive out of the sadness and grief we as a family were suffering.

“We have all found great comfort as a family in having the facility to light candles and also to watch the incredibly generous donations grow together with reading the heartfelt comments family and friends have taken the time to share. Hopefully it will be a lasting memorial to my brother that will continue for many, many years which will be shared and seen and hopefully bring comfort to all.
