Help more veterans recover: Davina's Story rg
Help more veterans recover
You may have heard our sad announcement in the news over last weekend.
Since then, we've had an incredible outpouring of support to help us care for veterans and many people have asked how they can help ensure veterans get life-saving mental health treatment.
One simple way is by making a kind donation to Combat Stress. Your donation, no matter how small, can help servicemen and women get the support they need and deserve.
Find out more about the people your donation could help and read Davina's story.
Davina's Story
“I felt like l had turned to stone inside”
Davina joined the Army Air Corps aged 23 and was involved in tours across the globe. However, her time in service was slowly affecting how she saw life, leaving her feeling angry, unable to sleep and shell shocked.
“I was frightened of my own actions. I felt I was going insane.”
We helped Davina fit treatment around her work schedule and she took part in therapy sessions one day a week, until she began to feel at ease again.
“I used to feel like I didn’t deserve help, but at Combat Stress I learnt that I was there because I needed to be. My body might be intact, but my mind got damaged. Thanks to Combat Stress, I’m so much more relaxed today.”
