Carols Edinburgh
Stockbridge ChurchThursday 11 December 7-8.30pm
We’re thrilled to share that we’ll be returning to Stockbridge Church, on the evening of Thursday 11 December, for a truly special event featuring beautiful music to welcome the festive season.
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s event will feature performances by the Fettes Prep School Chamber Choir—renowned for their appearances across Edinburgh and at music festivals throughout Europe—as well as the esteemed Fettes Choral Society. Their presence will make the evening even more special, and we are truly honoured to welcome them.
Contact the events team if you have any questions about the event at events@combatstress.org.uk or call 01372 587 148.

Michael Duffy, veteran
“I am delighted to be asked to be here for this event. As a former soldier I know how difficult Christmas can be. I have spent Christmas’s away on operations, and I know how much it helps having a supportive network around you during the dark and difficult times. I also know how much soldiers love Christmas, and the festivities that come with it. Combat stress is a beacon of light that continues to guide and support our most vulnerable veterans during their darkest of days. Let’s help them light the way for our country’s finest.”
Roy Leckie, Executive Director, Walter Scott
"There is no better way to enjoy the spirit of Christmas, than by singing carols. And how wonderful it is to do so whilst supporting one of the UK’s greatest and most vital charities. Combat Stress makes such a difference to so many. Merry Christmas, and thanks, to all involved."
Sonia Phythian Director of Services, Combat Stress
“I am honoured to be part of Combat Stress' festive celebrations, for the first time, here at Carols Edinburgh. As a former member of the Armed Services, and now helping veterans and their families, I have seen first-hand the meaningful difference you are making to the lives of those who have served and need our help. Thank you for being here this evening to support our work - helping former servicemen and women with military mental health trauma recover, and live full and meaningful lives.”
Stewart McKay Deputy Head of Operations - Scotland
“I am now in my 13th year working for Combat Stress and still find it to be a very humbling experience to be able to care and support our veterans on a daily basis. The dedication and commitment our staff portray through their compassion and empathy towards our veterans is reflected on the incredible feedback we receive on a regular basis. This will be the first Carol Service I have been able to attend so I am really looking forward to not only celebrating the festive season with you all but also celebrating the lives of the veterans we serve past and present.”
Our Band
The Highland & Lowland Bands of The Royal Regiment of Scotland
Even though the Scottish soldier is inextricably linked with imagery of Pipes and Drum, they have a long tradition of marching with military bands. As early as 1763 there is a mention of a band of musicians in the Royal Regiment of Foot, which latterly became The Royal Scots.
The Military Band remains an integral part of the Regiment and is the repository for and authority on Scottish music in all its forms. As such it has a crucial responsibility to maintain and build the repertoire of Scottish music, to keep alive the folk/ceilidh band tradition and to promote the work of composers who have served in one or other of the Scottish regiments. Today, music continues to contribute to the broader effectiveness of defence and it supports the ethos, traditions and identity of both serving personnel and veterans, which the bands continue to proudly support on a local and international level.
