Christmas Appeal Advert
For households around the country, the Christmas season can be a time of togetherness. Families reuniting, sometimes after months or years apart. But, for a former serviceman or woman who is dealing with mental health problems, it's not always easy to face special occasions or even everyday family life.
At Combat Stress we’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones.
For almost a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict. On the phone and online. In the community and at our treatment centres.
Paul was 17 years old when he first served in the Falkland Islands conflict in 1982 as a Royal Navy air engineering mechanic. After seven and a half years in the military, he then spent 26 years working as a policeman in London, but at home, life was difficult. You can read more of his story here. Paul attended the Combat Stress six-week residential PTSD Intensive Treatment Programme in June 2016 and has started living his life again.
Combat Stress gave me the tools to be able to manage my PTSD and live a happier life. I’ve got my wife, my family and my life back.
But we must not forget others like Paul who are still struggling with family occasions and day to day life. Your support toady could help transform the life of another veteran and make 2018 a real turning point for them to start living their life again.
