Trauma Informed Approach Part 2

Combat Stress — Making trauma-informed practice the status quo.

At Combat Stress, our specialist services take into account the life experiences of the veterans we treat, including the different ways in which a veteran might be affected by trauma and continually work to prevent retraumatisation.

Our trauma-informed practice includes offering a veteran the choice to work with a female or male clinician, taking collaborative approaches to treatment planning and options of individual treatment or group support. We recognise that some may be anxious about seeking help from a veterans' mental health service due to the nature of traumas experienced during military service and offer help that is sensitive to these veterans’ lives.

Our staff regularly engage in reflective practice, where they think about the emotional impact of their work and receive ongoing specialist training to ensure they’re well-resourced to provide veterans with the best possible care.
