Our year in numbers
Our year in numbers
Every year we help veterans and their families overcome the impact of military trauma. Over 20,000 members of the Armed Forces community benefited from our help last year. Our support is wide and varied – for example:
Our Helpline:
Our free 24-hour Helpline is a muchneeded service. It is our front door but continues to do so much more than provide an entry into our service. We offer a listening ear, emotional support, and de-escalation of crisis situations. We also provide information on other services available when veterans need support with other factors such as alcohol or drug dependency, housing, war pensions, finances and more, as well as providing a daily emotional lifeline for many regular callers.
Through our Helpline, we also provide a vital service to families and loved ones of veterans, other organisations and professionals that need information or advice regarding veterans they are engaged with. And we provide this 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Our specialist treatment
Our specialist support enables veterans to tackle the past so they can take on the future. Our psychological therapy team deliver trauma-focused therapy to help veterans process traumatic events, allowing someone to be less troubled by them now and move forward with their life.
Family support
We know a veteran’s family can be hugely affected by their PTSD. Our research has shown that partners of veterans diagnosed with PTSD can be at risk of developing a mental health condition themselves. Our own work in this area has also indicated that children are impacted and their relationship with the parent with PTSD often suffers. We offer a range of different forms of family support. In the last year we estimate that over 2,000 family members have indirectly benefited from veterans who received our specialist mental health support. Our life-changing treatment not only transforms the lives of veterans but also their families.
