The impact of our treatment
The impact of our treatment
Our treatment changes lives – we see it every day in the veterans we help. Lives are transformed thanks to your support.
But the impact isn’t limited to just veterans. Using the Office for National Statistics (ONS) metrics, from the start to the end of treatment, we measure life satisfaction and veterans report significant improvements. When life satisfaction improves, there tend to be economic effects – directly and indirectly.
According to the ONS, if this improvement could be attributed to Combat Stress, then this would deliver a potential economic benefit per veteran worth between £26,395 and £42,233 per year. The ONS categorise anything over £20,000 as having high benefit to society.
To put this further into context, improving life for the millions of Britons living with mental health problems is one of the most pressing healthcare challenges facing the UK today. Poor mental health affects 1 in 4 people in England alone, and is the UK’s single biggest driver of disability, with enormous consequences on people’s quality of life.
The economic impact is vast, with mental health problems costing the economy some £300 billion a year owing to unemployment, staff absence, and the costs of care.
Improving life satisfaction via mental health improvements can reduce these costs.
