Double your impact for veterans’ mental health this Christmas
From 2–9 December, your donation to Combat Stress through The Big Give Christmas Challenge will be matched pound for pound, doubling the support that helps veterans rebuild their lives.
When some military personnel leave service, their battles don’t end. Trauma, anxiety, depression, and isolation can take hold and without help, lives and families can unravel.
Last year, King’s College London found that rates of probable PTSD among veterans have risen to 11%, up from 7% a decade ago.
Your gift can help change that. By donating during the Big Give week, you’ll ensure more veterans get the specialist treatment they need to recover and move forward.
Double your donation. Double your impact.
So no veteran faces trauma alone.

FAQs
What is The Big Give?
The Big Give is the UK’s biggest match funding campaign. Every year, for one week, donations made to participating charities are doubled, meaning your gift goes twice as far.
How does match funding work?
When you give through The Big Give platform during the campaign week, your donation is matched pound for pound by a funder who has already pledged support to our charity. So if you donate £20, we receive £40.
When does The Big Give take place?
The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs for seven days, starting on Tuesday 2 December at noon and ending on Tuesday 9 December at noon.
How do I donate?
Simply visit our Big Give campaign page during the challenge week and make your donation online using a debit or credit card. Donations must be made through the Big Give website to be eligible for match funding.
Can I donate over the phone or by cheque?
Unfortunately not. Any donations not made through the Big Give website will not be counted towards their matched giving campaign. This includes phone donations, cheques, bank transfers, fundraising page donations or even donations made on our own website.
I've just held a charity event, can I donate the cash funds towards the Big Give?
Yes! you can donate your cash funds collected at your event towards the Big Give. This will help your funds go even further! Please do let our Challenges team know that you have donated through the Big Give so we can link this to your fundraising activities (challenges@combatstress.org.uk)
Will my donation still help if the match funds run out?
Yes. Even if the match fund pot is fully used, every donation made through our Big Give page still goes directly to support veterans’ mental health, it just won’t be doubled once the matched total is reached.
Can I add Gift Aid?
Yes. If you’re a UK taxpayer, you can add Gift Aid when you donate, increasing your gift by 25% at no extra cost to you.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation?
The Big Give usually sets a minimum online donation of £1, and donations can be made up to £25,000 in a single transaction.
How secure is my donation?
All donations are processed securely through The Big Give’s platform using Stripe, a trusted payment provider. Your data and card details are protected.
