We are proud to announce that Combat Stress is a finalist in two categories at this year’s Soldiering On Awards.

VICTOR, our unique and groundbreaking Veterans Intensive Complex Trauma Organised Recovery treatment service, is shortlisted for the Healthcare and Rehabilitation award, which honours those who have made a significant contribution to the physical or mental welfare of current or former service personnel.

Launched in 2022, VICTOR is the only intensive treatment for Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) available to veterans in the UK. To date, it has delivered consistently excellent outcomes for veterans, including those who have struggled for decades with trauma. Of those who completed treatment, 96% showed significant reductions in PTSD symptoms and 68% no longer met the criteria for C-PTSD.

Meanwhile, our Learning and Development team, which has established a military-focused mental health education platform for more than 100 UK charities and services, is a finalist in the Education, Training and Development category.

Our Learning Community platform is a unique initiative led by Combat Stress clinicians and experts. It delivers interactive online learning, live events and forums on subjects such as suicide prevention and transition from military to civilian life to over 350 individuals involved in supporting veterans.

Dr Naomi Wilson, Head of Psychological Therapies at Combat Stress, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist for two Soldiering On Awards.

“Our nomination for VICTOR is a testimony to incredible clinical innovation that has only been possible through the vision and tenacity of a huge team – our veteran and family collaborators, specialist clinicians, support workers, operations team, estates and research experts. All have been willing to be bold in their pursuit of enabling veterans to recover from complex mental health difficulties and live the lives to which they aspire.

“Our Learning Community is the first of its kind. The positive impact of our learning platform on veteran mental health support underscores the importance of ongoing efforts to address mental health challenges within the veteran community. The veteran is at the heart of what we do, and we believe our training will ultimately improve the lives of veterans in the UK.”

The winners will be formally announced on 16 October 2024. To find out more about the awards visit: https://soldieringon.org/announcing-our-2024-finalists/
