Exhibition at James Hockey Gallery, Farnham explores post-traumatic stress disorder

Latest Stories

Battle:Cry, a multidimensional exhibition that aims to expand the knowledge and understanding of military post-traumatic stress disorder using art, sound and written word is open at the James Hockey Gallery in Farnham.

The exhibition, which runs from 26 September- 21 October, includes extracts from Lynn Hamilton's short stories, together with Postcards from My Past, an installation artwork by Jennie Jewitt-Harris and Sleepless Dreams a piece of sound art by Oliver Jewitt Harris which forms a response to the PTSD research and characters depicted in Lynn’s short stories.

We have previously supported the exhibition by participating in an event and providing clinical insight into military PTSD, its impact, and how Combat Stress can help, including through art therapy.

The role of art therapy in treating complex PTSD

With art being such an important part of the recovery process, helping veterans express how they are feeling and to put their experiences in to words through creating imagery, Combat Stress is running it’s own art event, ‘The Secret Postcard Auction’.

It is a chance to get your hands on beautiful postcard-sized artworks, that have been created anonymously by leading artists, celebrities and veterans who have used art therapy.
