Announcement on Service Redesign consultation
Following a review of our services, we today (16 January) launched a consultation with staff with proposals to restructure the charity.
Sue Freeth, Chief Executive of Combat Stress, said:
“Demand for our services remains high, yet our available income is falling. Last year we undertook a review of our services by consulting our staff, veterans, their families and our strategic partners. We looked at how and to whom we deliver our treatment programmes and support to ensure we create a cost-effective and veteran-centred service.
“As a result of the review, we are proposing to restructure our workforce and services, resulting in substantial changes. A formal consultation process with our staff was launched today (16 January) and the final plan will be put to our trustees for approval in March.
“For the thousands of veterans who need Combat Stress, we must restructure our services so that the charity can survive and thrive. We understand this news could cause concern for those veterans we treat so if you have any questions about what we are doing, please contact your case worker.
“It remains our vision that all former servicemen and women with complex mental health problems live full and meaningful lives. No other organisation in the UK does what we do. After 100 years of service to veterans, we are at a pivotal moment in our history – securing our future and the future of veterans across the country who, without this charity, have few options for complex mental health support.”
