Thank you to our Armed Forces community
Ahead of Armed Forces Day this weekend, everyone at Combat Stress would like to say a huge thank you to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community – service personnel, veterans, families and cadets.
We’re immensely proud of all that you’ve done and continue to do for this country.
We know, though, that while many people will be celebrating Armed Forces Day, there’ll be some of you reflecting on the sacrifices made by our military community, and those who bear the physical or psychological scars.
We’re dedicated to helping former servicemen and women overcome mental health problems. On average, they wait more than a decade before seeking help, unsure they have a mental health condition because they don’t recognise the signs and symptoms.
We’ve put together a short video to help veterans and their loved ones know what to look for. The sooner you come forward for help, the sooner we can help you overcome your trauma.
Isolation, anger and aggressive behaviour, sleeplessness, feeling irritable, nightmares, flashbacks, feeling alert for danger, and panic attacks are all symptoms that can be displayed by someone with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Our 24-hour helpline is available to veterans and their families on 0800 138 1619. Serving personnel can call our helpline on 0800 323 4444.
We’re here to support you.
