Dear Friend,
I was a mess before I came to Combat Stress. The thought that other veterans will be left without help is unbearable.
That's why I'm asking if you will help more veterans like me. People need support after leaving the Army - nothing prepared me for what I saw. I joined up when I was 16 and did tours to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Sierra Leone. It was after one particular incident in Afghanistan that I began to struggle and decided I had to leave the Army.
I knew something wasn't right, but I was in denial. In reality though, I was a completely different person.
When my first daughter was born, all my emotions came out. I once destroyed my kitchen - ripping off doors with my bare hands - that's how bad it was.
I didn't want to go to bed as I knew the flashbacks and nightmares would come so I'd drink. I was't eating well.
Once I ended up in a coma for two days due to malnutrition and dehydration. My marriage broke down and i realised I needed help.
When I called Combat Stress, things moved quickly. I explained how I'd thought about taking my own life twice.
I can't praise combat Stress enough for how they have helped me. I 'm in a new relationship and much more chilled out.
I'm well on my way to qualifying as a counsellor. Life is so much better.
Please support this appeal - it's the only way veterans like me will get the chance to start living again.Thank you,
