Combat Stress Celebrates Psychological Professions Week

Highlighting the Impact of Psychological Therapies for Veterans

In recognition of Psychological Professions Week, Combat Stress is proud to raise awareness about the skilled psychological professionals within our organisation and their vital role in helping veterans recover from the impact of military trauma.

Our dedicated Psychological Therapies team includes clinical psychologists, counselling psychologists, cognitive behavioural psychotherapists, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing practitioners, and art therapists. Together, they provide a range of evidence-based trauma-focused therapies tailored to meet the unique needs of veterans.

The trauma-focused therapies offered by our team include:

  • Cognitive Therapy for PTSD
  • Narrative Exposure Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

Every member of our team is trained in more than one trauma-focused therapy, allowing us to personalise treatment plans that facilitate healing and recovery for veterans.

At Combat Stress, we also take pride in nurturing the next generation of psychological professionals by offering placement opportunities to clinical and counselling psychology trainees keen to develop their skills in trauma-focused therapies. This commitment to training is complemented by our robust in-house research department, led by Professor Dominic Murphy, Head of Research at Combat Stress. Under his leadership, the department conducts high-quality research aimed at enhancing our understanding of veteran mental health needs and innovative treatments, including for PTSD and Complex-PTSD.
