Help for Health and the Lazenby Fund award £10,000 grant

Grant-giving charity Help for Health and the Lazenby Fund has awarded Combat Stress a grant of £10,000 to help provide free specialist clinical treatment and support to ex-servicemen and women in East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

The grant will support the Combat Stress Community Team in these areas.  Made up of a community psychiatric nurse and an occupational therapist, the team is often a veteran’s first point of contact with the charity.  Working together, the team delivers the support and treatment veterans need to help them rebuild their lives.

Robert Marsh, Director Income Generation at Combat Stress said:

“We are extremely grateful to Help for Health for their support for Combat Stress and veterans with mental health conditions.

“We continue to see an increase in referrals each year, with almost 10,000 new referrals in the last five years, a 71% increase. It is vital that we raise awareness and support for the charity in order to meet this increasing demand, that’s why funding, such as this grant from Help for Health, is so important.”

Dr. Andrew Milner, Chairman of Help for Health and the Lazenby Fund said:

“The trustees of Help for Health and the Lazenby Fund are delighted to give grants for the work of Combat Stress in providing free specialist clinical treatment and support to ex-servicemen and women in East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

“We are acutely aware that the support provided by statutory services is finite and therefore the work of Combat Stress is essential in meeting the additional demand and improving the health and well-being of ex-servicemen and women.”
