Sip Powers wins Soldiering On Lifetime Achievement Award 2022
Huge congratulations to Major Sip Powers, our Combat Stress representative for Lancashire, who was awarded the prestigious Soldiering On Lifetime Achievement award last night which recognises a significant contribution in support of the Armed Forces Community.
On top of his distinguished British Army career of 34 years and with his own significant health issues, Sip has dedicated so much of his spare time to supporting military charities, raising £40,000 so far.
Maj (Retired) Powers has, among other achievements, completed 17 Ironman competitions and co-ordinated and completed the Everest Charity Climb. He spent a decade with the BattleBack initiative as an adaptive senior instructor and established the Help4Heroes Para Climbing Team.
After two years of planning, Sip completed the ‘Enduro7’ challenge, completing seven different gruelling 24-hour endurance events and remaining awake for 185 hours to highlight the effects of sleep deprivation linked to mental health issues and how many veterans are suffering in silence.
Commenting on the award Sip said:
Sip now has his own business, 'EXtreme Outdoors', enabling WIS personnel and veterans to access the great outdoors to assist with mentoring, coaching and wellbeing development.
