Latest Stories

Combat Stress has been awarded a £300,000 grant, over two years, from the Garfield Weston Foundation to help fund our life-changing specialist services for veterans.

On average 73% of veterans who undertake our treatment recover. This is an incredible impact and significantly above the recovery rate for PTSD of other mental health services

The grant will help us to ensure that veterans across the UK, struggling with complex mental health issues, will continue to receive the best possible treatment and support.

Chloe Mackay, CEO of Combat Stress, said: "We are incredibly grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation for their generous support, which will go a long way to helping us continue to change the lives of those veterans who turn to us for help, over the next two years.

“Left untreated, PTSD can have a devastating and debilitating impact. it requires specialist treatment and support from those with knowledge and understanding of what veterans have experienced, and that’s what we provide at Combat Stress. We’re experts in treating military trauma – and no one else does what we do, but we simply couldn’t continue to transform lives without the support of organisations like Garfield Weston Foundation.”

Sophia Weston, Deputy Chair of the Garfield Weston Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the work at Combat Stress. We believe in supporting a diverse range of charities across the UK. From local community initiatives to large national projects, the common thread is that all our grantees make a real positive difference, improving lives and strengthening communities throughout the country.”

The Garfield Weston Foundation is a family founded grant-maker that gives money to support charities across the UK. The Foundation supports charities operating in a wide variety of sectors that make a positive difference within their communities. In the most recent financial year 2024-2025 the Foundation gave away almost £130 million to 2,967 charities.
