You think you might have symptoms of COVID-19 and have not yet been cleared by a doctor.

Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with coronavirus, via coughing, sneezing, or hand contact. A person can also be infected by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.

What to do next

The risk of being in close contact with a person with coronavirus or contaminated surfaces is very low at the current time.

Everyone is being reminded to follow NHS England advice:

Do:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • Always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

Don't

  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and assess the situation. This information will be updated as new information and Government advice becomes available.

Please monitor the latest Government guidance as the situation is rapidly changing and new cases are being reported around the world daily.
