We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Iain Downie as our new Director of Resources.

Iain has held roles in the military charity sector since 2013, first at Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) as Operations Manager then Head of Vocational Rehabilitation & Training Services, before spending the last four years as Director of Resources at Forces Employment Charity.

Prior to this, Iain served in the Royal Army Medical Corps for 23 years in the UK, Germany, Bosnia and Afghanistan before retiring from service as a Commanding Officer in 2013.

As Director of Resources at Combat Stress, he will be responsible for managing and optimising the charity’s resources, leading our Finance, Governance, HR and Property functions.

On his new role, Iain said: “I am delighted to be joining Combat Stress, an organisation making a remarkable difference to the lives of veterans and their families.

“I am really looking forward to getting started and working to ensure a positive future for the charity, and in turn all those affected by military-related trauma.”

Our CEO, Chloe Mackay, said: “We are delighted to appoint Iain as Director of Resources at Combat Stress. He brings extensive experience from the military charity sector, as well as invaluable lived experience as a former serviceman. I have no doubt that he will help the charity to continue to flourish.”
