Celebrating 10 years of research
Since our in-house research department was set up 10 years ago, it has played a vital role in ensuring we understand how best to support the veteran community. To mark this milestone, we are today launching a 10-year research report that pulls together findings from all our major studies. These findings are not only impressive but have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the veteran mental health field.
Research themes within the report include the demographic profile of veterans treated by Combat Stress; the needs of women veterans and minority veteran groups; support for partners and families; difficulties veterans may face such as PTSD, complex PTSD, military sexual trauma, alcohol misuse and moral injury; Combat Stress treatment outcomes; and clinical trials the department has coordinated.
Created in partnership with the King’s Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) at King’s College London, our research department has been part of research teams that have secured over 50 research grants totalling more than £5million and published over 150 research articles and reports. Consequently, our department has grown to have strong national and international links, becoming a leader within military mental health, and continues to drive innovation.
