About Us:
Combat Stress was established in 1919. We are the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For over a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.
Today we provide UK-wide support to veterans from every service and every conflict, on the phone and online, in the community and at our treatment centres. We’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So, when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to take on the future.
About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed Recovery Support Worker to join our Nursing team. This is your chance to gain unique experience working with military veterans who suffer from PTSD including co-key working group therapy sessions as part of our multi-disciplinary team.
Our recovery support workers are essential to the success of Combat Stress and will work as the eyes and ears of the wider team.
Some key elements of the role will include:
- Promoting and maintaining a safe, caring and therapeutic environment to facilitate the well-being of the veterans
- Supporting Nursing staff in implementing service users’ treatment plans on a daily basis
- Co-facilitating psycho-educational, wellbeing and relaxation groups
If you are interested in joining us to contribute to developing our mental health services for veterans, then we would be delighted to hear from you.
This role will be subject to a DBS check.
There is a legal requirement that all staff working in a CQC regulated location must be fully vaccinated (received both doses of a recognised vaccine) unless exempt for clinical reasons. If you are appointed to work with the charity, you are required to provide proof of full vaccination as part of your pre-employment checks.
How to apply:
To apply, send an up to date CV and covering letter to recruitmentsouth@combatstress.org.uk
